Bachelor of Business Management (BBM)

BBM is actually a new program introduced by Faculty of Management, TU. BBM like that of BBA is a four year program comprising 8 semesters. This program is designed in such a way that this can be cornerstone for aspiring business leaders and qualified managers of future. The BBM graduates are equipped with effective knowledge, abilities, self-confidence and skills to contribute in successful and efficient information management and transform themselves so as to fit in this highly changing, very competitive and volatile world.


BBM program is designed with the following objectives:

  • Develop students’ skills in creative thinking, decision making, leadership, communication, and gain understanding of operations and change.
  • Develop students’ understanding of entrepreneurship and innovation, and effective management of business operations in a dynamic business environment.
  • Prepare students for professional life to work as business manager and entrepreneur.
  • Help and motivate students to pursue their further studies in this field.

Curricular structure:

The BBM program is based on semester system. It is a 4 year program spread over eight semesters, and each semester extends for 16 weeks of intensive study. The total courses consisting 120 credit hours have been spread out 15 credit hours per semester. The curricular structure covers five areas: business tool courses (36 credit hours), business foundation courses (54 credit hours), focus area courses(15 credit hours) and elective area courses (9 credit hours), and project and report writing or internship (6 credit hours).


Admission Requirements:

Students intending to get admission to BBM program must have:

  • Passed +2 or its equivalent
  • Minimum grade C in all subjects taken in 11 and 12 or minimum second division in + 2 or PCL or equivalent in any discipline
  • Secured sufficient marks in CMAT exam
  • Demonstrated satisfactory performance in the interview

Scope and Career Opportunities

BBM like other management course has very promising scopes. The BBM graduates can be saleable in most of the work places. The following are some of the positions that BBM graduates can apply:

BBS - Bachelor of Business Studies

Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS) Program is a four year degree program that follows yearly system. During the year around students take classes for 150 days at least and each class lasts for 50 minutes.    BBS program is designed to develop students into competent managers for any sector of organized activity. The program is based on the principle that graduates will spend a major portion of their life in a constantly changing environment. Therefore, the student should have an opportunity to obtain a broad knowledge of the concepts and reality- based skills underlying the operation and management of organizations. Upon graduation, students should be equipped with necessary knowledge, skill and attitude to function as a manager in business, industry and government. The graduate should also have a variety of career opportunities in different sectors of business including entrepreneurship and create much needed jobs for others.




BBS program is designed with the following objectives:

  • Equip the students with the required conceptual knowledge of business and administration to develop a general management perspective in them.
  • Develop required attitudes, abilities and practical skill in students, which constitute a foundation for their growth into competent and responsible business managers.
  • Encourage entrepreneurial capabilities in students to make them effective change agents in the Nepalese society.
  • Develop necessary foundation for higher studies in management and thereafter take up careers in teaching, research and consultancy.

Curricular Structure:

The FOM recognizes the need for both breadth and depth in the total academic pattern. Therefore, the curriculum for BBS degree comprises three separate and distinct course components: 1. A strong foundation allied areas of business such as language, economic analysis, legal environment and quantitative method to prepare graduates to understand, analyze and comprehend the management concepts, theories and practices. 2. Core business studies encompassing and integrating all functional areas to provide graduates with and appreciation of the diversity and inter-relationship of business and management issues. 3. The opportunity to concentrate in one area of specialization such as accounting, finance, human resources management and marketing in order to provide graduates with some degree of functional expertise. BBS students take 17 compulsory courses and 3 specialization courses. Students take courses with 500 full marks in each year. In fourth year, students will complete a final project work that carries 50 marks.  

Admission Requirements

Students intending to get admission to BBS program must have:

  • Successfully completed the 10+2 in business/ commerce or an equivalent course.
  • Must have studied mathematics or economics as a full paper at +2 program.
  • Demonstrated satisfactory performance in the interview

Scope and Career Opportunities

The BBS program has been converted into four years program from 3 years program. Because of this, it has become the choice of students who want to pursue management comparatively in cheaper rates. The academic cost of BBS compared to other management courses is less. However, when it comes job and career, BBS program has as much possibilities and scope as compared to other subjects in management. From banking to corporate house, factories to account, everywhere there is a need of BBS graduates. They can work in sales and marketing. Since, it has become four year degree program, it has now become easy for students to go abroad for further study. Not only are this, teaching and training also good fields for BBS graduates. Moreover, it becomes complementary for graduates to get enrolled in higher studies through BBS.

BCA – Bachelor of Computer Applications

Tribhuvan University has recently come up with a new program under the faculty of Humanities and Social Science. The program is termed as Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA). This program has been proposed under the affiliation of Tribhuvan University from the new academic year of 2071/72 BS. However, TU has not provided affiliation to any of its constituent or private colleges till late December 2016. TU has launched the program from the academic year 2074/2075. In the first phase TU has given permission to run BCA at its 6 constituent campuses.

It is a 4 years (8 semesters) degree. This 4 years program in Computer Application has been started with an objective to produce qualified computer software developers having wide range of knowledge in the technical field. Students learn to solve computer based problems of different types of business and industries.



BCA program is designed with the following objectives:

  • To produce professionals in the field of computer application as programmer and software developers.
  • To provide knowledge about various tools and techniques used in software development.
  • To provide students with both practical and theoretical aspect of studies related to computer applications.
  • To enhance the skill of students to create solutions of technical problems that arises in industrial, commercial as well as in government companies.
  • To provide students a fine base to continue their studies further in MIT, MBA, MCA, etc.


Curricular structure

BCA is a 4 year program spread over eight semesters, and each semester extends for 16 weeks of intensive study. The total courses consist of 126 credit hours. The curricular structure covers six areas: Core courses - Computer Applications (71 credit hours), Elective courses (12 credit hours), Mathematics and Statistics courses (9 credit hours), Language courses (6 credit hours), Social Sciences and Management courses (15 credit hours), and Projects and Internships (13 credit hours).

Admission Requirements

Students from all faculties are eligible to get admission to BCA program.

Students intending to get admission to BCA program must have:

  • Passed +2 or its equivalent in any discipline passed with minimum 40 % marks or D+ grade and 2 CGPA 
  • Secured sufficient marks in the Entrance examination conducted by Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, TU
  • Demonstrated satisfactory performance in the interview

Scope and Career Opportunities

Computer has become an inevitable part of our daily life. Most of the work today is done with the help of a computer. Though, most of us are aware and skilled to use the basic application in a computer, there is always a need of professionals with appropriate qualifications.

Software developers and other IT professionals develop different types of applications and computer games. BCA graduates can apply for different posts, such as system analysts, system managers, project managers, database administrators, system designers, IT Officer, network and systems administrators, computer specialists and programmers. Information industries and manufacture industries are always seeking for BCA graduates.

Students completing their Bachelor's degree in Computer applications are legible to pursue higher studies in any faculties which come under the Management and Information Technology such as M.C.A. (Master of Computer Applications) and many more.
